YO! Jesse from the GTA here. Deciding on a car to buy, with the Solara (1/1.5 gen) on my short list. Only problem seems to be finding a 5 speed. Awesome forum btw!

Wlecome. Get a Solara...not only will you have a great car, but you'll be able to be a part of a GREAT community. Even if there's a little bickering here and there

EDIT: I'm from up your way, Buffalo, NY. Use to go to TO all the time. Cleanest large city in North America! :D

Hey Jesse, welcome to the site. What other cars are on your short list?

I hear ya about the 5 speed (assuming V6?), they're pretty hard to find... but hey, at least you have the potential of getting one (us Gen 2 V6 owners are stuck with a manumatic)!!!

Take care dude,

Thanks for the welcome. For new cars, I'm looking at the V6 Mustang, and the Impreza 2.5 RS. Used, the Solara, Lexus ES300, Impreza WRX... still looking for other candidates. I basically want good (read: not cheap) looks, around 200hp with the potential for slightly more, manual tranny and 4 seats.

V6 Mustang doesn't belong in that group!!! Your other choices are slick though. Keep us posted on your search!

Welcome to SolaraGuy, and I wish you the best of luck finding a V6 5SPD... I've been looking for one myself amidst a total lack of funding, but I want one with metric guages and the whole 9 yards to make it feel "imported", although we all know Gen1's are made in Cambridge, ON with no JDM.
