First off, I'd like to thank those who helped me earlier on.... I just recently bought a 2000 SE V6, and had made a few posts.

Anyways.... yeah, so I'm def psyched about this car, its sweet, original, and not as common as others on the road. Nothing fancy in mine yet, I only got it a few days ago, but blue blinkers and Xenon lights coming soon.

Me, I'm going into my junior year at UConn, was born into a long line of Toyota lovers (several Avalons and Camrys). I live in the Providence RI area, and can't wait to make this already classy ride even sweeter!

I look forward to talking to as many of you as I can

as far as mods go, a college student budget hurts..... but I was hoping for some light exterior (spoiler) and some nice acoustic work. I'm a big Infinity fan, so hopefully some new 6x9's and components are in the near future. ..... a couple of questions I'd like to throw out there

1. Are the blue blinkers legal in RI, or anywhere for that matter? I've heard mixed things.

2. The fact that the windows don't have a frame on the top of the doors concerns me a little, has anyone ever had the gasket leak? Are those weather/wind guards worthwhile?

3. As far as rims go, does the chrome on white look good? Is White on white better? Just looking for opinions!

Thanks!

welcome to the boards! for your first question, you'd have to look around for the DOT laws in your state for automobile lighting. I know in texas, blinkers in front have to be a color between white and amber and between red and amber in the back.

i have a 99 that's had to stand up to the abuse of the texas sun day in day out and i haven't had any problems with the door seals, even going through a touchless car wash (i know, i know, i don't do it anymore!)

finally, as for as rims, i think chrome or alloy in general look a lot better than painted, but its your car so whatever makes ya happy! there's lots of sites that let you preview the rims on your car too so you can get a visual idea...try discounttire.com or tirerack.com, but there's others as well.

yeah i think one of the cheapest upgrades (as a student) you can do are the lights to a car haha... but as far as the blue blinkers... yanks is ryte... just stay away from them so damm chp/sheriffs stays away from you

before you get the rims... think of suspension first.... i personally think thats the better investment to start off with... after that go for the white on white!! i personally like those but dont have them myself... TITO had white on white and its not too shabby

oh yeah... and welcome!!!

hey, white on white does look sweet, and so does chrome on white, and then again so does regular polished silver :P have a look at other white solaras on this site, plenty off ppl have pics, so see what ya like. blue blinkers can get u in trouble in ga, im still waiting to get pulled over for my clear rear turning lights and saying "oh really, the guy i bought it from must have done it . i know nothing about cars!" but theyre not anythign showy, just clear instead of yellow. and yes, pleaase please please dont get rims on ur car without getting some lowering springs (recommended in combination with new struts). i dont like that floating look at all.
