Hey, I've been floating around here a little bit but just joined now, since earlier I paid the deposit on a: fairway green pearl '99 Solara SE V6 coupe! Today's been a great birthday! I wanted to hopefully learn more about this sexy beast. I'm not totally clueless when it comes to cars, I would like to think, but I have a lot to learn (On a side note, how in the hell do you open the sun roof? Didn't get a good look at it yet).
I first saw this car on an online ad, and I didn't really like it. But as soon as I saw it in person I was totally in love with it; even now I can't stop thinking about it. I looked around for other cars but kept coming back to this one.
When I first test drove it, the brakes were locking up. They got it fixed, and forgive me if I say this wrong, by putting a new master cylinder in? Test drove it again today, took it on the highway, and there was this weird clanking noise underneath... I don't know how to describe it. The dealer said he wasn't sure what it was, but it couldn't be any mechanical problem because he's already had it checked over a couple times. He said it was probably just the wind rattling something; sounded like the probable cause to me, too. And if not that, it's the tires. It's in need of new tires pretty badly, so he offered to put all new tires on it so I can pick it up early next week, and also give it a safety check (again). It has 161k miles, but... I'm hoping that won't be an issue because it is a Toyota after all.
Still, I'm just so nervous. My first and only car I've had for four years now has given me virtually no problems, no one's hit me or anything... so now I'm just scared hell will break loose on this one that I really care about. But that's just me jinxing myself!
Alright I think I'm wrote a long enough essay, I'll put up pictures when I get it!

Thanks you guys.. I actually just got a call from the dealer. He said that the mechanic he brought it to is replacing all the brakes and rotors; so it was the brakes after all, not just the master cylinder. I'm getting nervous again.. oh well.

Thank you :) I hope so too. Been wanting to take pictures but I'll refrain myself until I wash and wax to make it look perfect :P Scratches all over the place.
