Hi from Austin

Postby redhot » Tue Dec 06, 2011 11:10 pm

Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I look forward to the future posts. Pictures to come soon.

Went to have 20" rims installed today... rims were mounted... I was smiling... paid for the service... went to the car... the mechanic said "they don't fit"... WHAT?!! Long story short, the front rims were rubbing against the brake caliper... heck the dog on wheel would not move at all. :bad-words: So now, I'm going to have to get a set of wheel spacers. I'm assuming that 5mm will work since I only need a small amount of clearance space. Once I get this sorted, I'll be updating things.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome. Let me answer some of the questions you guys had...

1GSE - I have a 2004, which is a Gen 2. Absolute Red color with black interior, SE Sport model.

Yaddadaimsayn - Thanks for the welcome... I appreciate it. Nice clean Solara... Love the black!

SolaraSport - Fortunately I was able to get the problem fixed. I had to install a 5mm spacer in the front. Everything seems to be working out fine... I have noticed a very slight vibration when I'm at 65 mph, but then it smooths out around 68 or 69 mph. The pearl white looks classic with the chrome rims... nice job.

Dinoxor - I see that you're from Garland... if you're ever in Austin, holla.

Gznutz - Thanks for the shout out... The silver and black looks sweet!

Can anyone give some advice on how to post pics. I took some with my Iphone and downloaded to my computer. I can't seem to figure out how to save the pics on my profile or on posts. Any advice?

Please accept my belated welcome to the SG forum, RedHot. Your mods on the 2004 are very nice. I espcially love the placements of "INJEN" on the engine cover and side body, but the whole package looks great.

Car looks hot! You should have gone one size larger on the tires 225/35zr20. I have the same tires but in the 35 series, it fills the wheel well better, and more true to the original outer diameter. I love the way the blacks wheels look on the Absolute Red! That red would have been my next choice, right after Onyx Black. Good looking car though, Can't wait to see what's next!

Funny thing is that I did, but the tire company sent me the wrong size. I didn't return them because they also sent me the wrong brand, which actually turned out to be a more expensive tire and better brand... so, I decided to just keep the tires. Next time I order tires, I will make it a point for them to get it right. It's going to look better once I drop the car. I'm thinking about TRD springs. I don't won't to drop it too low, because my car is what we use a daily communter and family trips. I can just picture the car loaded down with luggage and the whole trip is full of tire rubbing on dips. I'm more about function than anything. Now if this was my weekend car, then heck, I'd have it dropped to the ground... probably have Lambo doors too. :drinking:
