Considering a Solara Purchase

Postby kevpain » Tue Jan 31, 2012 8:42 am

Hi all. My first post here. I have been looking at a Solara and am considering a purchase. This would be our second Solara, but it's been awhile (sold a could years back) and this is a different model. It's an 05 SE convertible, 6 cylinder with just under 100k miles. The price is firm at $8150. Overall the car looks very clean. It has a clean carfax, 2 owners.

I have a couple questions for you. My understanding is that Toyotas in general are very reliable. If this car has been maintained reasonably, do you think 100k miles is too many considering the car will be a daily driver? Second, what are common problems I should be watching for? The only thing I noticed that wasn't working was the fuel range computer (says 0 miles, but the fuel gauge DOES work).

I do plan on having the car inspected by a mechanic before I purchase. If anyone could help, I would very much appreciate it. Normally I would spend hours on a forum to do the research myself, but I have been so involved in car shopping that I'm exhausted. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey guys! I bought the car last night. I'm very surprised at how quiet it is with the top down. I'm looking forward to Toyota ownership and to spending some time here on the forum.
