Hey all! Found this site looking around at take offs. Used to really love my 2001 sle, but now at 160k it's getting tired. Didn't realize there were so many enthusiasts out there. I hope to get some good info. I'd consider myself a factory nut. With my Camrys I've owned, I would often take factory parts from other years and models to make mine better. Like Avalon alloys, in dash CD changers, strut stabilizers and things like that into a 92. I've had all the generations of Camrys and Corollas except current. I was a pretty good mechanic for a while and did work for Toyota as one for a period too.

Really wasn't happy that they did away with my Solara. If I had a cool 40K, I'd probably pick up a shiny Lexus is350 coupe!!!

160k is nothing on this cars, there's quite a few over 200k. I'm at 178k, put the supercharger on at 168k and I'm not nice to her at all. Besides the normal issues of boosting an n/a engine, I haven't had any major problems

It's not that I think the car is too old. I was hit hard in the front side and the repairs were not to my satisfaction. Frankly, I could easily argue that it should have been a totalled. They used low grade parts and the fit wasn't good either.

I still think it is one of the best looking toyota's ever. Have the pearl white paint, tan leather...just not the same car anymore. I plan on giving it to my son for his first buggy. He'll be psyched.
