Another New Solara Driver From Maine

Hello all! My name is Sean, I'm from southern Maine, and I own a 2000 Solara SLE convertible. I bought the car a little over a year ago for $5500. It was sitting pretty in somebody's yard a few towns over with 145k miles on it. I wasn't exactly looking for a Solara, but it caught me eye and I had to test drive it. On, the test drive I fell in love! We made an offer of $4500 cash, and the owners accepted! Now I'm the proud owner of a Toyota for the first time and couldn't be happier... I am going to school as an automotive technician, so any project I do is certainly helping me with experience.

-So far, for performance, I've added a WeaponR Dragon Intake, a throttle body spacer(my own little turbo) :D 8000k HID headlights & 10000k HID foglights, NGK spark plugs/NGK spark plug wires. Also, I'm planning on ordering an Injen Universal Muffler in a few days! SO pumped!!
-I have repaired/replaced the brakes all around, the brake booster, the alternator, timing belt, flex pipe, and my own custom interior over the past few months. Black carbon fiber wrap w/brushed aluminum accents, and all bulbs have been swapped to LEDs, except the brake light.
-I've been trying to join for some time now, but I understand everyone's hectic schedules... I would like to thanks you all ahead of time, for most of my projects wouldn't have been completed nearly as quick without browsing this forum!

Guys, I'm having a hard time trying to get pictures to display on the actual Solaraguy site.. I'd rather the pictures just be visible on the forum instead of making everyone click on a link..

Yeah man I'm in Biddeford & I'd love to check out a TRD Solara in person sometime. I ordered my HIDs off of amazon.. the brand is Kensun, and the headlights were around $70. The fogs were around $55.

Thats depressing knowing you can't drive this daily....

Heres the link to the 9003 headlights i bought. I ordered the LO XENON/HI HALOGEN bulbs because the BI-XENON bulb size actually didnt quite fit into the headlight housing, it was a little too wide(plus they're bright enough, as you do not need the high beam xenon)

http://www.amazon.com/Kensun-Xenon-Conv ... kensun+hid

Now the fog lights i got were cheaper. They're a 9006 bulb size and fit with no problem. However, I'm not sure if the price has anything to do with quality, but the harnesses seemed to be more of a plastic material compared to the 9003 bulbs.. They work perfectly fine for me, and i've had them in for almost 6 months.

There are 2 ways to get to the fog lights. either from under the car, which is quicker, or by taking the grille & both headlights out

So the hi beams arnt xenon then thats a little dissapointing but its all good. Any way to buy two pairs of 9003 bulbs and using one for high and one for low. Sorry my knowlege is pretty low on hid lights. Also any problems with cops around here with the lights. Cuz mines allready a cop magnet

I'm sure you could find a set that has high beams that is a little smaller in size. But it may be a little more expensive. And no, You'll only need ONE set of 9003 bulbs for the headlights. The 9003 bulb is a unique bulb that has low beam and high beam in the same bulb.

As for cops, I haven't had any trouble with them

Ya but lets use my sold 2001 camry for exaple it used 9006 hi and low bulbs. I got the zxe halogens that were on sale for $50 and put them to my low beams. My high beams died out a year after i upgraded my lows so i was thinking about buying another pair of the zxe xenon filled bulbs so they matched my low beams. Thats what id do for the hid if i were to get them.
