The OFFICIAL Elmhurst 2009 Thread

What better way to start my comeback than to make the official Elmhurst thread for 2009? I saw some discussion in the Chicago meet thread about it and thought we needed an official one.

I don't personally have a lot of info about the show this year, but here is what I do know:

Sunday, August 23rd 2009 at Elmhurst Toyota Scion in Elmhurst, Illinois.
Roll in after 10am - Roll out at 5pm.
Cut off for Judging is 1pm.

This IS a NCCA judged show event.
Entry Fee with shirt and food/drink tickets same as last year @ 20 bucks.

I believe last year we stayed at a hotel right next door and drove the 50 feet to the show bright and early in the morning to get the cars clean. I will not be showing this year, so I don't have the show info, but I'm sure someone will chime in with the info!

As of right now, I am planning to come out for the show. I just got another solara for Alicia to drive, so if she decides to come to Chicago for the weekend with me, we will MOST LIKELY take that. It is pretty much stock, so nothing exciting, but it is fun to hang out with everyone. If she does not want to come with me or is in a VERY good mood, I will bring my 240sx.

Anyway, everyone in the area should for sure come out... we had a group of SG members from 5 different states last year and it was an AWESOME time! We went out to dinner and got into some shenanigans in down town Chicago the night before- great group of guys! It doesn't matter if you have a toyota or not or if your car is stock or heavily modified, just come hang out with everyone!

LOL, my eyes are devilish as well.

I like the idea of a meet the night before, especially since I missed it last year. Dinner was fun as well. I'd also like to do a cruise with everyone, even if it's just a small group of us again.

Damon, tell Alicia that if she comes she'll have another lady to chat with. I'm sure Ky would like a break from all of the car talk.

oh yeah for sure, I think they would really hit it off. We might try to find some camping in the area for the weekend since we just got a ton of camping gear for an early wedding present.

Anyone else thinking about coming out? It will be here before you know it!

I'm hoping to attend again. I always roll in town late afternoon on Friday and look to hook up with folks that evening.

Saturday, we should plan a day event and a get together that evening. Then there's the after-dinner trouble we usually get into.

why dont we make a roster? that way well have a better idea of who will be attending. Just copy and paste and add your name. make sure to add wether your a in for sure or wether its just a possibility.

I will defiantly plan on making it. I was getting a bit worried it might be a wrong weekend for me since I got something planned for every weekend in August. Fortunately the show lands on my only free weekend!

I plan on booking a room at the Springhill Suites by Marriott which is next to the Elmhurst dealership. It was a really nice hotel! (for what I got to see of it) It came with a continental breakfast and was around the corner from a do-it-yourself car wash. Currently the rates are cheap! $89 for a room with two doubles or one king. Last year I also got a discount mentioning I was coming for this car show. Here is the linkie

On a side note chances are I wont get in until around dinner time Saturday because I just put an offer on a house and the closing date is for that weekend. So I will know shortly if we get it and how late I will have to plan accordingly.

P.S. Mike T is always a maybe until the day of!!! Last year he decided to go the day before the show only because I called him to see if he is going. Timing worked out perfect and we met up in Indy! I plan on doing the same again this year if he is still is a maybe that Saturday!

Oh and I have a Garmin now so we shouldn't have to play find autumn red solara game again!
