finally got my new clutch installed. i practically stalled it like 5 times just backing out of the garage, it bites so much better than the old, worn-down-to-the-rivets one... thankfully it was only down to the rivets on the pressure plate side and not the flywheel side, so i didn't have to resurface my flywheel - i just sanded off the glaze from the old one.

I also took the opportunity to slap those tein s-tech springs i've had for months into the front for now. holy crap they're low. it has a slightly raked look right now since i still have stockers in the rear, but the rear fender gap is only about a half inch more than the front so it's not horrible. at least it doesn't look like a freakin 4x4 anymore! honestly though, i think it's lower than it was when i had the ground controls (at their highest setting)!

now all that's left is the EGR system, and an inspection (hopefully they won't look too closely at my tires since they're very nearly down to the wear indicators) and i'll be good to go!

right now i'm driving around with the supercharger disabled so that i am less likely to glaze the new clutch during break-in. here's how i disabled the s/c - pay attention to the vaccuum lines. i'm basically using the vaccuum to turn on boost cut any time the motor is running.

the dark hose is the one that runs up and around to the bypass module up by the throttle body. the metal vaccuum pipe i connect it to always has vaccuum when the car is running, and the brown VSV is the one that the EBC uses to electrically cut boost.

if you have to loan your car to someone, this is a nice way to help keep them out of trouble. ;) plus if you put the plastic engine cover back on, they can't even see that it's been done. and yes, these pics are from my 95, but they look exactly the same on my 98.

got the starter and battery fixed.

turns out that both were going bad, i replaced the contacts in the starter and then got a new battery.

so all i need to do now is get my registration and seafoam+oil change.

and big up to gibson for the help.

contacts are just SLIGHTLY cheaper than a new starter, eh? :D

looks like i'll prolly be buying a new battery before the meet myself. at least i still have some warranty left on this one so i won't be out very much $. just gotta wait till payday...

^^ lol, after the core return/warranty on the battery (and $20 off from AZ loyalty rewards) i ended up only paying $7.80 for the battery (and felt pads), and then only like $20 for the contact repair kit

so, a new battery and a working starter only ended up costing me around $30 out of my pocket and a few hours of work.

well since i WORK there i'm not allowed to have a loyalty/rewards card, but i think the battery will end up costing me about $30 as well since it's still under warranty as well. too bad i'm outside the free replacement period though!

Sweet man.
I need some rollin' shots of my car.

Got my sideview mirror on yesterday afternoon, should be installin' my new console piece, so no more holes on the passenger side.
Got to glue up a broken tab though.....
Then got to wait for my subframe braces to come in.

^^ that's cool man, someone's gonna have to make the rest of our solara's look good  j/k

if it makes you feel better i have a deep paint gouge on my front quarter panel that came from when my neighbor backed into my car (still haven't fixed it, lol), also the fender is pushed in slightly further than the corner light.

it seems that most everyone is gonna be in some stage of rennovation, so no worries.
