Jp Performance Group Buy?

As I've said before, the headers and exhaust combination from JP Performance seem to be of high quality. In combination with my 7 psi of boost and the low compression heads from Jim@FA, I am getting just over 271 fwhp and almost 252 lb/ft or torque. My system from JPP has a catalytic converter that should pass CA emmissions testing more easily than the standard one they install. It also has a quieter muffler, since I don't like a real loud sound. With these customizations, the car still sounds great. I get some resonance between 2300 and 2700 rpm, but other than that, it's not overly loud. The sound it does make is very deep and purposeful.

As for driving, I can notice significantly more power at higher revs. I also notice less torque below 2500. I'm sure that's due to the 3" piping. For city driving, I find that I now shift at higher rpm than I did before, and I now use 1st gear a lot more than I ever did in the past. I find that at lower rpm the car is a little less smooth, but it's not a big deal. This might be due to the engine needing to have the timing retarded a little at those levels, but that's just a guess. I'll be interested to hear your impressions. Good luck.[/quote]

Sweet, I guess we'll have to loose low end, but it sure sounds worth it. What rpm are you shifting at now?

For normal day to day driving, I used to shift before I would get to 2500 rpm. This was for smoothness, quiet and gas milege purposes. If I was playing with the car on empty roads, the shifts would always be at higher rpm. Now, with the JPP system, I rarely shift below 3000-3500 rpm, even in city driving. If I don't need to do any serious accelerating, I'll sometimes shift at lower rpm. It's not as if the car will stall out at lower rpm, but it has noticeably less kick at those numbers than it did before.

Like I said in an earlier post, it's no big deal. In fact, the car gets into the higher rpm range so fast that you have to consciously shift quickly to make it happen at low rpm. It's now just a very differenct animal than it was before, and especially in comparison to a stock Solara.

GB Participants??

Postby solrchrgd » Sat Jun 19, 2004 11:55 am

I am interested in the header, y-pipe and catback. Just wondering how many people are still interested??

If this GB does happen I will sell my JP Y-pipe to anyone interested. I did have two bungs welded on for my EGT and when I got my SAFC tuned. I have pictures on my cardomain site if interested.

out of curiousity, do you guys think with the jpp headers and y-pipe and a tanabe exhaust or apexi WS that is only like 2.5 or so piping there might be more low end power? i honestly love my low end and rather have more of that than high end because this is my daily driver.

i might be interested in a few weeks.
