Lowering w/ Wheels

Lowering w/ Wheels

Postby DonkeKong » Thu Oct 21, 2004 6:18 am

I recently put 18x8 wheels on my car with 245/40/18 tires. I had to get new tires bout a week later cuz the tires were rubbing in the back on the struts and on the outside of the tire with ppl in the back on turns and bumps. Now I hav 225/40/18 and the problem is pretty much solved, but still rubs a tiny bit on the outside with ppl in the back + subs on hard bumps. I want to lower the car now mainly for looks. So, I was wondering if this is gunna be a problem for my tire rubbing. I definitely don't want to cause any more problems with that. Anyone else had problems with this and have any input. thx

you might want to run a search about rubbing.

you can consider shaving or rolling the fenders.

if you roll the fenders you will fine. I have 18x8.5 in the back and it used to rub until we rolled the fenders. now, there is no rubbing at all.

yeah, I have 18x8's on my car, and they originally rubbed only when I went over bumps with people in the back seat. Then I got it lowered, hoping the stiffer suspension would help... but they began to rub slightly even with just a passenger. The poeple told me that I had to get new tires and should switch to a 35 series ( I have 235/40/18 ), but I finally got my fenders rolled(for like $90) and the problem is finally solved :). I love the look!! :D
