Performance Upgrades vs. Insurance

Postby 2002greenhornet » Mon Oct 25, 2004 12:58 pm

Actually, I told my Nationwide rep that these were all made-by-Toyota upgrades (bending the truth a little) that were available as optional equipment when it was new and they still said "if you do it, we will not cover you. If you bought it that way, it would be okay, but since you are installing them aftermarket we can't cover the car. Period." All they would cover is the wheels. Nationwide is definitely NOT on my side.

So, different insurance companies obviously have different policies on the matter. Needless to say, I'm switching to State Farm. My wife has State Farm on her car and I called her rep and he said, no problem, just keep your receipts, you can do whatever you want. Supercharger, headers, whatever! Not only will they cover me, it's going to be a little cheaper! Go figure.

I'm not talking about TRD upgrades or superchargers.

Yeah, they insure my house, too. So now we're going to have three cars (the Solara, my '91 truck, and my wife's Highlander) and the house with them, which entitles us to a little discount, too.
