Is that really a cold air intake? You think its any good? I think id rather get a factory made CAI rather than a custom one, so anyway... opinions on this???[/url]

That's right, it's just a short ram with a cover.

Weapon-R offers a "CAI" hose attachment that hooks onto the heat shield. It looks like a dryer hose with a scoop on the end. Check out Weapon-R's website. The metal box just works as a heatshield from what I can tell.

I question whether or not there would be more bad than good from doing this though. It seems to me that the hose would create alot of turbulence and therefore decrease airflow. Even if it would get lower temperature air to the motor, I think that the reduction in flow would probably cancel out the increased density of air giving little to no gains. It might help a little, but there are alot better ways to spend the money. Just my .02 :).
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Stick with your stock box and a K&N High Flow filter. It already pulls air from inside the fender behind the battery. Unless you are going to snake a pipe all the way down to behind the fog light (see JoeB's car and others) with a filter on the end, (AND protect it from sucking water on rainy days) it ain't going to change much power-wise, especially low-end. This looks just like a fancy version of the stock box. That's also not a picture of the actual product for our car. This picture shows the right side of the car (ours pulls air from the left), and the engine's not transverse mounted if I'm seeing it right... Can't figure out how they'd make that big piece of metal work around the battery on our car either...

Anyway, my long-winded 2 cents.
Steve

I like the sound of a short-ram... and in my opinion, unless you got some serious power-adders, intake and exhaust are just sound effects, pick what you like to hear.

Yeah, go with Danny's extension (if there are any left...). CAI still has the sound, just lower down. Do not go with anything Weapon R, because it sucks...I want to get rid of mine, just haven't found the right sucker...
