Custom Altezzas?

It's no secret that most of you's dont like altezzas. I'm slowly getting tired of mine as I see more and more people with them on Solaras. I was thinking of custom coloring them like so:

It would be like: 1) Bake tail lights 2) Sand down the chrome 3) Paint the chrome the color of your car with touch up spray paint and 4) Reseal. The problem would be the reverse light. If i paint that too chrome, would the light be white or red when I'm in reverse? It woul dlook better red, for sure:

What are your thoughts? And do you think it could be done?

tail lights are a bitch to bake lol and if i were you just paint it not sand it and you can leave the clear part clear and not paint it red

how about just smokin them the color of ur car, or puttin tint on em, im bout to try the smokin, but usin green color instead of black

Problem with that is the reverse lights!

or yea, good lookin! didnt even think of that. the reverse will take the color of the tint or paint, or u can simply leave the reverse light unpainted! i doubt its gonna look all that great with a circle left out

question: i understand your trying to do a great job. But i've seen just candy-red-apple paint on the EXTERIOR lense on a rolla. It didn't look all that shabby (followed by clearcoat). Just mask off the reverse circle and paint the rest...wouldn't that be easier??? (maybe i'm missing the point tho')
