Remote Start/Remote Entry - Does brand matter?

Remote Start/Remote Entry - Does brand matter?

I got a few friends, as well as myself asking about RS/RE systems. some who have RE already, some who dont. I personally dont have RE.

Does the brand really matter for RS/RE systems? I mean what makes something like a Viper unit better than something like a Bulldog unit? What kind of problems would I see with a cheaper unit?

anything can occur. you can get lucky or you might not. its just that when you go more towards name brand you get their warantee. just in case something goes wrong, you take it right back, and they would be able to fix.

where as cheapy off brand you may not get that type of service

I have a Viper and it worked great until my DRL started to act up for about 3 weeks.
Then the lights went back to normal.
But the remote start is great, and the RE.
Also i got mine at Jackie Cooper Electronics, so if something ever wnet wrong wit it; i could take it back to them and have it fixed for free.
Also you can add on great nifty things like: level sensor, and window sensors, and other array of items that would would work great.

8) Just keep in mind you get what you pay for. Spend a little more money and get a quailty product with a warranty is the best way to go. I have both and love them. I also had the remote trunk installed.

can i ask what you mean by "RE"??

the only brand i'd trust for remote start products is DEI (ex. Viper, Clifford, Python). i have an Autopage RS-750 (NOT a DEI product) in my car for about 3 years now and it's fine. it's really the INSTALL that matters in my opinion. but don't try and save money on the equipment if it doesn't matter.

why risk it? DEI products have been proven for a reason.

RE means Remote Entry.
