You already did it? Sounds like not enough offset. My understanding is that less than 40 offset is likely to rub with peeps in the car or over bumps/tights corners. Let us know how it goes. I'm curious.

Shouldn't have problem running that as long as you roll the rear fender and have to proper tire width.

I was going for 8.5" width also and I know that 38mm offset would fit if you roll the fenders.

that is true, however its a 8.5 width rim. if the offset is not low enough it will rub against the strut. which is by far way worse than rubbing on the fender.

i test fit one of the rims w/o the tire. it doesnt rubb the strut. i just have to wait till i have the tires mounted on.

i know for sure 245 will have u rubbing on the struts. I tested it on a 18x8 rm. what tire size are you getting?

18x8.5 with 35 offset will not rub against the strut. however you will need to roll your rear fenders.

I have 19x8 with 38mm offset and i dont have any rubbing agaist the strut or the rear fenders.
I also used a 2mm spacer for the hell of it just to push the wheels out a little more and dont have any rubbing even under hard turning. With the spacer i have a 36mm offset in the rear.

here are some ref. i got from tire rack and with so many set of wheels i've goen thru i know kinda got the understanding of how offsets work now...

Examples:

7" width Wheels you can use anything that is +45 or lower
7.5" width wheels you can use frm +42 or lower
8" width you can use +40mm but +38 is recommended to have it sit farther away from strut.
8.5" should use +35 but no higher then +32 offset. For the solara anything with 8.5 width you will have to roll the rear fenders if you are lowered with those offsets. even if you run 225 tires. Tho with 8.5 i would recommend 235 tires.
9" width you should use +30 but i wouldn't recommend using this since your wheel will sit outward and even rolling the fenders will not help

Hope this helps everyone. If i made a mistake please correct me as i am 95% sure these are the correct offset you should go by when purchasing rims for our platform.
