Clutch

Clutch

Postby eugene5786 » Sat Apr 16, 2005 10:22 am

Okay, listen to this. I first bought my solara 5-speed v6 last may. so that means i havent even had the car a full year. Now as soon as i got the car my clutch went out. the car had 109,000 then so i thought it was the normal time for the orig. cltuch to go out. Then i procceded to install the Stage 3 clutchmasters clutch. well the scumbags that installed the clutch didnt resurface the flywheel. so aftear 7,000 miles the clutch went out again. then i proceded to install a clutch masters stage 1 with a findenza flywheel. i've had this setup for the last 6,000 miles and now i have anouther problem. this morning i warmed up the car and started driving. as soon as i started driving the clutch started slipping on me. im thinkin damm there goes anouther clutch. but at the same time i know it cant be possible its brand new. i call up the mech. i tell him the problem and he tells me that its impossible. well as the day went on i started to relized that it stopped slipping. Now i really dont know what the hell is going on. Is it a bad clutch, or is it something else?

What's up this is RJ from Under Pressure I think I have some info you should know...
I dont know if you knew your not...Clutch Masters has had some problems with clutches failing...Last year we went thru 5 CM Clutches on the Turbo Magazine Project Supra....and it was still only a stock twin turbo. Dont take this as a slam on CM. I Love CM Clutches....BUT ONLY ON A HONDA....LOL!!!
Try a different brand of clutch ACT,SPEC,Diakin/EXEDY,RPS...YES they cost more...BUT it sounds like it maybe worth it to you to try it out....I can get you ACT,Diakin, and RPS.
Also if you have the disc from the clutch or when you get it off..take a picture of it and email it to me..RJ@UPFD.com.

I hope everything works out for you...if you have questions call me at the shop 714-890-5153 M-F 9AM-6PM PST....

I agree wit RJ ^^^ . . . try getting the TRD racing clutch for our car (mine works fine w/ a resurfaced flywheel). Otherwise Exedy or ACT should be all G too . . . but I guess I'm jus a lil biased towards TRD 8)

A handful of us run the SPEC clutches with no negative feedback. South Bend Clutches also have good reputation for a little less money on horsepowerfreaks.com.
