clinking, scraping noises caused by RSB?

Recently, after being lowered for about a week i've noticed a scraping, thudding noise everytime i go over any bumps and when i turn, so i took it to a shop and the mechanic said my RSB is sitting right ontop of the crossmember bolts and thus are scraping it and clashing with it all the time. I did a search and didn't find anyone else with this problem, so could the mechanic be wrong or i might just be an isolated case? He said there was no way to move it either and the only way to go is to go back to the stock RSB, but i am really hoping there is another solution, anyone?

:o That sound serious Bro,

How lowered are you? If your just using the strut and spring setup you should be fine and you're only concern would be to grease up the RSB bushings with marine grease. Have you seen the rubbing that the machanic is refering to or have pictures of the affected area? Because the rubbing could be a number of things. It could also be that the tires are over sized where they are rubbing against the wheel well lip in the rear fender. And the last question is the Rear Sway Bar a TRD version and not the Whiteline version?

However, if your using the Tein spings, Tokico struts, proper wheel/tire size/offsets and the TRD rear sway bar, then the rubbing and creeking your hearing is just the Polyurathane bushings in need of greasing (use Marine grease, it will hold on longer to foul weather). Also check your struts if they are on tight. Hopefully this helps out Bro.

I noticed a thud and scraping on my Solara and so I finally looked underneath. My RSB ripped out the bracket where the bar holder is attached to. Check it out, you may have the same problem. Toyota repaired it though.

Your situation is probably different if the RSB is really the culprit but these were my fixes....

Problem: thudding over bumps
Cause: muffler bouncing up and hitting frame (apexi ws catback)
Solution: ghetto rigged an old piece of bumpstop to the frame rail to firm up the muffler

Problem: scraping/creaking while steering
Cause: dry front suspension bushings
Solution: disassembled struts and re-packed with grease

^ That's what I thought initially: Dry suspension bushings. I was even thinking about disassembling that suspension setup and place rubber sleeves or something. Well, to my surprise, it was much worse than that :(
