Hubcentric rings and wheel spacers are two different things

Many aftermarket wheels are not centered on the hub, but rely on the lugs to stay on. These rings expand the "hub" and allows the aftermarket wheel to sit on the hub, centered. Without them, you would notice rattling at crusing speeds, due to the wheel not being perfectly centered on the hub.

The spacers increase the offset of the wheel, usually so that the wheel that is too low an offset for your application doesnt rub the strut. This actually puts stress on the lugs as well, since the lugnuts arent all the way in (Instead of being secured by say 20 threads, theyre secured by 15 since the wheel is pushed out). But yea, 15mm just seems like alot to me. Thats a centimeter and a half of the lugs that the lugnuts arent secured on.

I do believe you need a 5mm spacer in the back for the Gen2 17s to fit right, but I dont think you need hubcentric rings since the hub cutout in the wheel should be the same from the Gen2 Solara to the Gen1.

All you need are 5mm spacers for the rear to keep the wheels from rubbing on the struts.

That's right, I was going to do this before I got the 19's.

Hey guys sorry to bring up dead threads .....but I just put on the Gen2 wheels and the spacers i got did not fit. So i just tried putting them on without the spacers. I checked the distance from the wheel and strut and its not rubbing but it is like 1mm from rubbing. Do you think this is safe for a while until i can get spacers taht fit my car?

I wouldn't suggest it but if your staying local where your not traveling at higher speeds, I'd assume you'd be fine for awhile.

.......but then again don't forget to compensate for the bad roads up there along with the potholes and what not, something is bound to rub on somthing else with only 1mm of clearance from the struts.
