custom cold air intake

i was thinking about making my own air intake, basically looking at the idea of how under pressure and injen did the hybrid. i can find everything to make it and a reasonable price, how hard do u think the initial construction would be?

Its a pipe, shouldnt be too hard.

If your making the whole CAI, you might have to worry about how to position the sensor so that it doesnt trip a CEL. Other than that, doenst seem like anything that would be too hard.

I've made a my own CAI before, save yourself the money and just buy a premade intake, you're not saving that much when you make your own.

Maybe stuff just cost more in your area... I only spented 40 bucks.. Would be cheaper but I made mine look good too. I also even used some of my factory parts and my ebay pipe I cutted... Some paint and clear coated and bamm.. I felt happier..

Well if you're just gonna slap a pipe on there yea it will be cheaper, but if you're going for a more decent looking intake its going to cost you more. The generic pipe costed me like $50, this was like 4 years ago, and the silicone adaptors ($10 each), good filter $60 (not generic ebay cottons), and a used OEM intake (for the MAF tube/holder) $50. You see I spent what was almost the cost of an Injen at the time. Plus when you use the stock MAF holder its inner diameter is smaller than most aftermarket pipes, so you get an uneven flow of air.

It's satisfying to do but trust me you'll be happier with a pre made one that went through some sort of R&D that goes beyond a hack saw.

Id definately be happier.. But with cost like that Im one of the many cant afford folks.. I found and old post where the extension was once 75 bucks..Now its like 120? Both R&D if Im correct.. But for now Custom done (of course correctly and not no BS pipe and woolaaa) will do...
