Spark Plug Wire Cost?

Spark Plug Wire Cost?

Postby LatinDragonXJC » Thu Nov 10, 2005 12:10 pm

Ima bit confused on spark plug wire set prices... I just got back from Pep Boys. They quoted me NGK wire set for a v6 @ 71 bucks.

I called Toyota , and asked them how much for a set from them. 65?

I go online do some searching.....and find NGk for v6 @ 36.97

http://sportcompactonly.com/product.asp ... &l=2&c=140

Is their something missing from these NGK wires online, that make them so cheap? Does it have something to do with ignition coils?

Thanks In advanced. :D

the coil packs arn't part of the spark plug wires... the coil packs are bolted to the block...

if you are going to get wires, get Magnecore wires... thats waht I have and I love them

yeah but is that for a 4cyl or V6? Im just confused why their would be such a huge difference in price from pep boys (which usually gives me good prices) compared to that online store.

Fat wires like magnecor do absolutely nothing power-wise on a stock or even mildly modded engine. NGK are stock replacement, but prettier than OEM. They cost a lot less than buying from the dealer and carry current as well as those garden hose wires.

Just like there is no such thing as a "performance" spark plug.

I got the MSD DIS-4 off ebay, with the two tach adapters that you need to run this setup w\ the 1mzfe for about 240 or so... brand new... If you get it from MSD its going to be somewhere right around 250+... its a great setup.. I love it, and it works great w\ boosted cars

so can someone tell me -

is there a reputable place besides the dealer where I can get the plugs n wires changed?

How much is labor on that work?

Can I buy the plugs n wires and ask the dealer to change it?

how exactly does not changing plugs and wires harm the car? Also, how will performace change by getting new plugs and wires

Thanks in advance.
