I beg to differ i got pulled over in queens, ny after successfully passing a check point with my 2 front windows down (tinted 20-30 back to front), the cop tailed me for half a block then pulled me over and asked me to roll up my windows then he put this thing they use to shine light through and then he have me a $40 ticket "equipment failure or something like that he called it"

Another ocassion i was rolling through another spot check and the cop told me to remove the tints they are too dark but he didn't give me a ticket or anything.

Note that i have the tints for like 3 yrs not and i only got pulled over for it twice so.... take that for what it's worth.

$40 aint bad. I got slapped with a $101 for my tint here in Seattle.

My .02 cents

Postby JMSinMaryland » Thu Dec 01, 2005 9:45 am

A couple of points.

1) It sounds like you are going to be moving around a bit, each state has different tint laws and when you try to register your car for licensing and insurance purposes you most likely will not pass if you have tint that is legal in Florida but not in Cali (for example). So it might be a good idea to either wait until you find the place that you are staying awhile, pass state inspection, then tint to whatever % you want or find out what is legal nationwide (Thinking 35%) and just getting it done 1x. Otherwise you're going to be paying for 1st tinting, inspections, removal of tint, reinspection and then retinting vs. 1x.

2)I would get the same tint % all the way around. The tint is going to look different anyway in the front vs. the back because the light coming through the front windshield. I personally have had 35%f/20% rear in my old 84 Tercel, 35% f/r in my 92 Camry, 20% f/r in my 01 Solara and 20%f/r in my 99 Camry. I would never get 2 different shades on the same car and would never do 35% again (too light). I am happy with my 20% but at night sometimes backing up it is hard to see. There is also 30% out there which I have seen and wouldn't mind having that or what I have now on.

Again my .02 cents. Jon.

hahahahaha. . . it happens to you too? hahaha. . . no matter what when you look around some one is staring at you. . . its kind disturbing if you think about it

Yeah, nosy people should mine their own business.
For extra stealth, tint your whole front window 50%. Just be careful when driving.

Or just flick your booger at their car . I got 35 front side and 20 back, but I always roll the windows down and shut off the radio when I roll by the pig pen (and I have to pass the damned pig pen every day unless I take a different route, but I risk being stuck behind a crossing train).

Damn 15 on the windshield.........
I've been thinking about 35, but I wonder what 15 looks like with 5% around?

It must be real sunny where you live, cause that tint is way too damn dark! How do you even park at night without rolling the windows down every time???

Here in Alabama, cops dont really bother you for dark tint. I found a shop around here that has 10% tint. I didnt want 5% because its too dark and i didnt want 15% because its not dark enough, so I opted for 10% and I love it.
