Update, Factory Radio Color Change pics page 3

Postby Solorange » Tue May 23, 2006 7:19 pm

So I just finished my radio color change finally. Im so proud of myself I got them all to work on the first try! I had to change the colors of my dyed bulbs I used before because the leds were way more intense. Sharpie markets are a miracle. They did the job just nicely. So for all of you in the future who do this sharpie markers are the way to go! Also my radio was different than the one in the tutorial. I only had 21 leds lights as opposed to 51. And my lcd screen did not have led lights illuminating it. It has a regular old bulb which I colored orange. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do! sorry the pics suck my camera cant take night pictures well without a flash.

I dont count this one since its under $100. So its not a mod... :D
I wanted purple, but I didnt have the time to put the effort into the guage cluster. I guess orange just to be different from all of you guys. You all do red or blue. This mod was cheap though. It only cost me $18bucks. And changing all the lights was very easy. Toyota makes it easy to get to all the bulbs. And all you have to do is take the green condom off and color the bulbs with a sharpie. As for the Leds follow that tutorial. I couldnt explain it better and the soldering is easy. You get really good at it once youve done like two lights.

As far as my next mod goes, absolutly nothing...
But my rear brakes squeak really bad, but that is because I changed the rear pads without turning down the rotors. I know Im lazy. So cause of that Im thinking about getting some drilled rotors. But this doesnt count either cause I putting it down as maintenance. I really need to get my timing belt replaced though.

Looks nice, but the trick is to hold your hand VERY steady or use a tripod... It is only because the exposure time is longer and therefore able to pick up on motion blur a lot more.

props to you on the lighting job!

in my experience sharpies have always faded as time goes by and the red was never deep enough for my taste, which is how i discovered nail polish bulb coloring. :fadein:
