air fuel ratio gauge question

ever since i got my air fuel ration installed today it's be going like this..

lean-rich-lean-rich

etc etc..
the needle/dial just does it the entire time unless my foot is off the gas, then it does nothing.

is this normal?
my buddy says it's cuz my intake draws in more air so the needle does that, but im not sure.

any answers/info?

Your friend made a wrong guess...

The gauge you got is a narror band. Its only for show. No go. Thats why its so cheap compare to the real deal. What you see on your gauge is normal.
Again, its only for show.

a narrowband is underestimated....

you can't tune with it, definately not. but it can and WILL tell you if something is wrong though, such as:

running lean during lean condition cel

running rich during knock-sensor retard

From what I've heard A/F gauges are kind of pointless. And from what I've read, what your gauge is doing is normal...Dat was correct.

yup...what it's doing is normal....basically the furthest reading is the correct reading...

if it touches green at all, it's going into the rich zone, if it only goes as far as yellow, then it's stoich, if it stays red all the time, you're running lean

and if you run super lean, the narrowband won't read anything at all since it's out of range...that's when you need a wide-band to tell you what's really going on

Sometime it goes off your gauge too which is normal. Its all good. Nothing to worry about. Just dont tune with that haha or youll blow your car up.
