Jeff,

I wouldn't recommend lowering your car and not changing the struts. I mean you can, But I wouldn't seeing that you have over 100k miles on your car and you are still on the OEM struts.

I would get the springs and strut combo together and do the install all at once. Its going to save you more money in the long run.

You can get Tein Springs for about $150.00 on ebay. Don't worry about the fakes they never made the fake teins for the solara. Not enough demand for them to make it for our cars. The fake was more pron to the honda owners.

You can the TRD strut from Mark (rear at least) or get a set of Tokicos for under $400.00 or KYB for under $300.00.

Hope this helps. I've learned if you are going to do something make sure you do it right the first time. I've learn from experience that you will spend more money going cheap first then paying to fix it later downt he line or even just to upgrade in the future.

Thanks a lot man. Im opting to get struts with it now because of your info. I think I'll get tien springs with Tokico struts. at performancecenter.com (same site i bought my injen off of)

When i was looking to lower my car i searched ebay and found good sellers for both struts and springs.

Search KYB Solara and you can find one seller selling for $245shipped

And search "Solara springs" and you can find some TEINs for $160shipped. Theres one seller with 100percent feedback, i would use him

So $405 for a lower car is a pretty good deal. If i wasent tight on money i would have got them. I need new strut mounts in the front too ($100). So i opted for some used ones with 10k for $150 and ill put the rest away for a rainy day for the solara...

Just throwing in my two cents...

On previous threads on this same topic, it looks like the best way to go is with JIC Magic FLT-A2. It may be pricey, but its the best way to go. They allow you to adjust height and dampening force. If your not happy with the height, you can change it. I like that feature.
I don't have them yet, but they are on my wish list and hopefully I'll be getting them soon.

Why?
I'm not asking to be an a$$. I really want to know why. Are Tein coilovers better?

Ok, Jeff.
If you get lowerin' springs might as well get some aftermarket struts.
You can save money in the long run.

As for "QuickSEV6" & "Solarafreek" both JIC and TEIN are both good companies.
It depends on your budget, and your preference.
Preference of either JIC or TEIN coilovers is just like the TEIN or Eibach lowerin' springs.

$1200 compared to $2000. Also, I dont take my car to the track, which I think the JIC's are more suitable for. No?

I would go with coilovers right away (if have the $$$ or are willing to save the $$$)... looking back, thats what I should of done and what I will do with any car in the future...

As for JIC vs. Tein... well it depends what you want it for... JIC are more performace oriented with stiffer spring rates vs. the Teins. I am personally going with the Teins because I do not want a super stiff ride and the Teins have all of the functionality I will ever need (and the added bonus of being about 600 dollars cheaper!)

Agreed, If I was to rebuild my Solara all over again I would go with Coilovers. Thats if money permits it. Althought springs and strut is a cheaper alternative of lowering your car it will never be as good as Coilovers...

Tein and JIC are both good companies. unfortunately these are the only 2 companies that make Coilovers for the Solara. I have Tein Coilovers now on my new car.
