I'd say that's a bargain - including paint!

^^Find a fellow Solara owner, pop the trunk, measure the holes, drill away. If your mechanically inclined, it sounds like something you can do yourself.

Oh - if you've got one already painted then why repaint it?

If you can find them already painted on Ebay that cheap then get rid of your unpainted one buy one of those.

If you don't want to pay to paint it then get a couple cans of Krylon and knock yourself out! Don't try to low-ball the painter... it's a lot of prep work/materials to do the job right!

no, that is a very good price. paint is not cheap, and neither is labor, I'm guessing one or two hours of labor at $75/hr? you shouldnt complain, that is a good price.

ebay spoilers are painted and prepped cheaply, probably one clear coat, who knows if it will match...ebay isnt always as good as it seems. let the pro do it.

I agree, $160 isn't that bad. If you get it from Toyota, they're somewhere around $350 painted I think the quote was. Then there's installation on top of that. If you want to install it yourself (he paints, you install) it might be cheaper and it's simple.

actually...the ebay spilers are painted really really well...I got one for my mom's gen5 and it was perfect in everyway...

but back on topic- 160 for paint AND install is cheap, period.

For install, it would take about an hour, so that would be at least your 60 right there, probably more.

and paint goes for about 250-350 per panel without hookups, and a spoiler is considered one panel. with hookups, you're usually looking at around 150-200.

so you do the math.

I shopped around quite a bit before I got my spoiler installed. the lowest I found was 80 installed (already painted). Most were over 100. Not only that, the place that charged 80 did a pretty half-assed job.

160 for install + paint is very cheap. If its a paint job with a proper clear coat, I would have expected closer to 300 for paint + install.

GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY!

If anything, I should be asking YOU where you got that price (but then again you're all the way in the ATL). Either way, for it to be painted professionally beats the hell out of pre-painted stuff, since there must be about 20 different shades of silver. My friend bought a pre-painted spoiler for his '98 Altima that was kind of a bronze many years ago, and the spoiler stuck out like a sore thumb that ended up being kind of a Dijon Mustard color.
