Attempted install of H&R Spacers

Postby briantek » Fri Nov 17, 2006 5:12 pm

So today a friend and I attempted to install my new spacers and ran into a problem. How the hell do we get the big drum off? There was this little rubber thing where that big hole is and in there we see 4 nuts, but the hole is too small for a bolt to fit in there to unscrew the nuts. I know there is probably some easy ass way to do this? What about those tiny holes? Every tutorial I have found doesn't mention this. It must be some really stupid step that people don't include.

To my knowledge....I thought wheel spacers go between wheel and Drum/disc ?? And then just bolt it all together ?? No need to remove your drums or any other hardware?

Grab a rubber mallet, with the e-brake down, bang on the drum as you rotate it to loosen it up...... Then it should pop off, and replace your studs.

Alright Milt I'll give that a try tomorrow. Anyone know what those small holes are btw?

DaTwUnKrAziEpInOy: My spacers come with studs that are longer than OEM, which makes it much safer than just using the spacer alone.

If the traditional mallet trick does not work, the drum (bore) is now stucked with the hub due to rust. Then used those two small holes (8mm 1.25 pitch thread) to disengage the drum out of the hub by inserting bolts and alternately (1/2 turn) tighten the bolts.

The 15mm H&R wheel spacer and longer studs installed.

The van looks like it was dropped with the aid of the spacers and taller tires (235/55R17).

The air bags are AirLift 1000 P/N 60785, inflated to 5 psi for normal driving and 30>35 psi (maximum) when towing or fully loaded (7 adults).

Yeah the 2 tiny holes you stick a bolt in them and tighten them and it will push the drum off.
I have to do that to my driver rear rotor....
