35 offset, bad for hub bearings?

35 offset, bad for hub bearings?

I was going to run my new wheels (18x8) at 35 offset and roll my fenders. However, when I talked to the guy at NAPA, he said 35 offset will work, but it will put more strain on the hub bearings due to the wheels being further out. As a result, they will wear out faster and need to be replaced. Is this true, and has anyone with 35mm offset had trouble? Id rather stick with 42mm and keep my car safe.

i think big wheels in general will wear out your bearings faster. heavier wheels/rims, stiffer suspension, etc is bad since its not dead center or near the specs of stock.

Personally, I've had both right side wheel bearings go bad on me. it cost close to 600+ to replace/repair both.

Ummm... is he saying that all 35 offsets are bad, or that 35 offset is bad for the Solara? Because stock G35 weels are 30 offset... :-?

35 offset is bad for us because it puts the wheel further out from the hub, this in turn induces more torque and strain on the bearing. im wondering if this is sufficient enough to make a difference?

The offset doesn't wear out the bearings.... the Weight of the wheels do.

And I ran a 18x8 with a 30 offset on my first solara, never had a problem.
