Different mods sounds

Postby rubberducky » Fri May 02, 2003 4:30 pm

hey! I'm planning on doing some mods to my solara, but I'm trying to stay away from the rice sound, that the high pitched bees swarming sound. I was wondering what all of these mods would sound like when I have them installed:

Injen Intake IS2030
Supercharger
TRD Exhaust
TRD Sport Muffler

:) Thanks

You will get a nice sound with any of those parts. The intake however...will cancel out in sound from the S/C whine. As for the TRD exhaust/sport muffler...it's the same exact thing. Most all the mufflers specific to the Camry Solara platform do not sound rice especially if you have the V6. The ricey sound usually comes from those cheap low quality look alike exhausts. You will get a nice sound from the TRD exhaust (despite the drone), Greddy Evo, JIC Bullet SUS or Apex World Sport.

TRD muffler sounds really good (TRD exhaust, TRD sport muffler...same ish)
i dont know how audible the S/C is from the outside, but it sounds like a whine inside of the car
i wouldnt worry about that high-pitched ricer sound, you wont have it

rubberducky, I understand your concern. I was worried about that too when I started on my car. I have the TRD S/C and exhaust. For the intake, I went with the RMM based on things I read in the forum. Sounds great! Next up, JP Performance headers. -Joe

I have one but its not of me racing. You can hear the distinct whine of the supercharer. Goto 2:22 in the video and you'll see the solara race.

This video is compliments of Scuba
