What does he mean by an upgraded pulley? The pulley that comes with the supercharger is a 3.2" pulley that provides 4 psi (lbs. per sq. inch) of boost. When people on this forum refer to an upgraded pulley, they are talking about a smaller pulley that provides more boost. Using these types of pulleys void the supercharger's warranty. I'm sure this isn't what he means, but the fact that he's using this terminology indicates that he doesn't really know what he's talking about.

By the way, no offense intended, but do you know what the pulley is, and what it does? If you don't, it's probably making it more difficult for you to communicate with this guy.

This is where my confusion lays, thats why I put in quotes what he was supposedly referring to, I cant understand why I would need an upgraded pulley, dang, even a new pulley, it makes no sense. I know that smaller pulleys create more boost and that it voids the warranty. Maybe I need to talk to his manager.

My knowledge is very basic of how everything works. All that I know is that the pulley is what makes the s/c work, spin, however you want to put it. I'm not offended, you're right, I hold little knowledge. But with or without the knowledge, why does he have to give me the run around and be such a pain in the butt? I cant believe his ability to order and receive a part relies on what I know. This is just so super frustrating, u know...

I do appreciate your constructive criticism. thank you for your replies! :D

It sounds like you have a basic understanding of the pulley and what it does. If you can see where it is, and can visualize how it is working, you can understand why it seems odd that it would be broken. The only way that it would be breaking is if it was defective in the first place, especially since it seems that it's only been on the car a short while.

It's too bad that they're giving you the runaround, but I think the last posters are correct. I've never had the feeling that Toyota dealerships are very knowledgeable about TRD products. That pulley should be covered under the supercharger's warranty, so even if this is a frustrating experience for you, you shouldn't have to pay anything for it. Good luck.

Unless it was installed by a qualified dealer than you get full warranty coverage for the rest of your powertrain warranty :D

WOW :o I had no idea they were that difficult to deal with. What an insanely bad situation they are putting themselves in. You would think they would be the total opposite if they wanted to expand their customers and make more money. Even if they wanted to be more exclusive, they could have kept a good market segment. sorry, i guess thats just a marketing major's point of view... I can't imagine they're not losing money.

DavPak, thank you very much for the phone number, at this point, its at least worth a try.

you guys are great! thanks so much for posting and being so supportive, I appreciate it!! :D
hopefully I'll have good news to post soon. ..
