Fuel Pump install, how to.

Okay so i want to change my oem fuel pump with the URD 190 walbro fuel pump

my question is, is this something i can do? or do i have to take it to a mechanic? and if i can do it, how do i go about doing this? i have no clue how to do this at all, any type of instructions would help alot.

is it easy to install? would i need anything else with the kit or is the URD kit a full kit.

You can do it. It really is an easy job. Please ensure the bottom of pump itself (plastic piece) has to be shaved slightly in order for it to set down fully in your tank properly.

Easy steps:

remove your gas cap.
unhook your battery
remove the rear seat bottom
disconnect to quick disconnect fuel line
remove the retaining screws
remove the retaining plate
remove the pump

You may have to replace the electrical on you pump. The connector is provided

install the pump in the reverse to the above.

Hey Greg, i really cant unhook the Battery, my SAFCII settings will be erased...rite?

o, and what is the procedure to undo the rear bottom seat? i dont wanna rip anything apart and break it, is it held just by clips where i just exsert some force and clips out? or is it more complicated than that?

NO, the SAFCII memory will not be erased. For the rear seat bottom just grad it at the front and pull up. It is tight but only held in by plastic clips.

You shouldn't waste your time with the 190lph, go for the 255lph. I found myself running extremely lean and my S-AFCII was maxed out at +50. But, that was with the Supra MAF and injectors. If you plan on doing those mods in the future, I'd reccomend it.

Either way, good luck with the install. It's pretty easy, URD makes it very straightforward. I hope you have a dremel, it makes it very easy. You'll have to cut off some plastic on the lower plastic clip holding the pump. I think you could use something else, but the dremel makes it a quick job. The other alternative is to zip tie the lower clip to hold it in place.

I don't know if you're thinking of using the Supra MAF, but I wouldn't. Even at 4psi, you won't be able to compensate enough fuel with that MAF and the 190 fuel pump.

I think you're good to go. The only thing I'm doing extra is adding a return fuel line, it's pretty good insurance on not leaning out.
