Stripped Bolt

Stripped Bolt

Postby 99V6solaraSE » Thu Aug 02, 2007 10:33 pm

I was trying to take my dogbone out to trade with SCV6..
but i think i stripped the top bolt trying to take it out. I try to loosen it and the socket wrench just just pops out when i push harder.
No idea what to do now as ive never been in this situation. Any suggestions?

that or try pounding a smaller socket onto the bolt... Make sure your turning the bolt counter-clockwise...

if you have access to an impact wrench, use that on the socket after you pound it on...

or, you could go to sears and get the stripped socket set, which would be easier, but more expensive than just pounding a socket on (make sure you use a craftsman socket incase it cracks, free replacement )

Go to the auto parts store and ask the guy for a sriped bolt head socket kit. This special kit will allow you to grip the head of any bolt for removal.

Also when removing the dogbone always remove the aft bolt first.
