Having Troubles Deciding on Tires...

I rarely ask people for their advice but I've been stuck trying to make a decision. So I was wondering if you could lend me your two cents on a decision I'm trying to make for buying a new set of tires:
I've been doing lots of outdoors stuff very recently like going to Big Bear and Joshua Tree and my 18's have been handling very well. It's the tires that haven't been too friendly with the roads. Therefore I made a decision to move to 05 Camry SE rims which are 17's. (Hopefully they'll look decent on my gen 1.5)
I know the ideal tire size would be 215/50/17 and I found a few that I liked. Some Kumha Ecsta (SPT and ASX) and the new Kumho Solus (with a better mileage rating). But I also found the Yokohoma AVID TRZ which are rated at 80,000 miles at just 10 bucks more than the Kumhos.
Problem is that these Yokohoma's only come in at 225/55/17.
I'm torn here in trying to get great mileage and keeping a nice clean look on the tires. I know if I go with the 225/55/17 then I might as well move everything back to stock.
Another question I was hoping that you'all might be able to address is if these taller tires (225/55/17) will rub the top of my well every single time I go over a slight bump? That could possibly help with my decision making.
And oh yeah, btw, I do plan on getting spacers.
