ssup solara lovers...

i've been looking for cold air intakes for the solara...and i can't find ANY!!! i've been told that short ram will do nothing but make ma car sound different...there is a place that will build a custom cold air induction intake for me for $300 (using aem parts)...is it worth it? or have any of you ppl found any cai systems for the solara? i heard that aem is still thinking about making it (but that might never happen especially b/c the solara gets a 3.4 L V6 next year) anyhow i've searched and searched in our forums and various websites...please give your intelligent suggestions...

also im planning on spending $1000 on ma babie(solara)...what would you do?

ty in advance!!!!

you will not get too far with only spending $1k.

something to consider:
audio system,
new rollers,
exhaust& short ram intake

each of those should be below 1k, however with the same combined should put you easily to $2300.

Save your money and forget the CAI. The only time i'd ever reccomend getting the custom CAI was if you had extensive engine work done. Without a ton of testing and tuning you won't see any gains from the CAI. As far as short ram air intakes, they are also useless, just for looks.

$1000s to spend...

Eibach Springs $200
Tokico Struts $329
TRD RSB $150
Exhaust or tint or save for rims

Cool someone else from the Midwest :). Anyway, like Yanks said, you can do your suspension up pretty nice for a grand. It's by far the best thing I have done to my car. The RSB upgrade changes the whole dynamic of the car and makes it very fun to drive. 1000 bucks doesn't go very far on these cars, as opposed to a Civic, but hey at least our cars don't look like they came out of a cerial box :P.

man..1000 $.
thats a hard bargain u driving. I would say rims..wait a min..that could cost u over 1200$ if u wanna go with 18s.

best bet..audio stuff...
lowering springs and struts.

or else, hype up the bounty..1k wont get u that far.

maybe someone should start a poll on how much pple have spent on their solaras.

"but hey at least our cars don't look like they came out of a cerial box "...HILLARIOUS>>>i cant stand civics!!!! MIDWEST REPRESENT [lol...not many ppl on this forum from around herre]

you guys are really informative...and quick...i really appreciate the recommendations...but two more questions...what kind of brake pads should i get...i think i need new ones...what kind of exhaust??? (i dun wanna be all loud!!!)

back to the "blah blah"...the guys where im getting the cai are the very best in the chicago land area...theyve done over 30 of ma friends cars and they will do testing...so the reason why i wanted cai is to raise ma gas mileage & a hp just a tad bit...i am getting good mileage now, but wouldn't mind the lil extra...im gettin two 12 kicker comps and 800 watt fosgate amp...im not gettin rims b/c of the conditions of the streets here in the area...[just gonna get nice tires, ive got 16's and theres no need to go to the 18s...]...light tints are in the works...tokico struts...trd rsb...sound good...thatll be a lil bit over a 1000...not too bad...

once again...ty solara fans... :D

I wouldn't recommend the Kicker Comps. The Solobarics are nice, however much more expensive. What are you paying for the comps?

K&N is an upgraded air filter. Not only does it feature a better filtering material but it also allows for better flow of air

Other than stock, I think Apexi is the most silent cat-back system. It's also the cheapest :). I just got one on groupbuycenter.com for $416 including shipping. I have been behind a car with the EVO, those sound really mean, but from what I have read they're not being easy to come by. XERD, OBX, and JIC also all make exhaust. There are a few guys on here running the JIC. The OBX probably sounds way crappy. XERD is pretty new, so I can't say anything about that. There has been a lot of talk about the JIC, Greddy, and Apexi on here, so a search should offer you a more complete picture.
