Radio Wiring Harness Remote Turn On

Postby Fletch » Tue Jul 15, 2003 6:22 am

Does anybody know which wire is the remote turn on (color, ect)? I want to run a sub with the stock deck and I was planning on using a line out converter for the imputs to my amp. I thought I would splice into the existing turn on for the factory amp to turn on my sub amp, unless anybody has a better idea.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I'm running a sub with my stock deck kinda like you want to do. I just use a stepdown off the rear speakers that converts to RCA plugs.

Anyways, the shop I had do the install just tapped into one of the fuses behind the infamous coin tray/junk tray to the left of the steering column. They just drilled through the fuse and wrapped the wire around the fuse element. I'm in work right now, but lemme know if you wanna try that and I'll find out which fuse they tapped into.

Yeah, I'm going to use the same type of device that converts speaker level inputs to RCA.

I'm interested in knowing which fuse/wire they tapped into. I would proabably rather tap into the wire but if you can let me know which fuse it is, I can figure it out from there.

i work for a car stero installaion place in CO and going into the fuse is an easy way of doing it, it's the radio fuse. When your radio turns on your amp will too. Your best bet will be to get an aftermarket deck, your sound quality will improve (even if you have the JBL system) and the tackyness of going into the fuse will be eliminated. You will also be able to control the output of the sub from the deck, instead of adjusting the gain on the amp.
