U need to do the 3 steps that I post earlier to make it Flip proof.

Darn! I didn't check the forum for a day and I missed all the fun with Flip on the "boost in first gear" issue! Yanks, as you may or may not know, I had a "discussion" with Flip about this very issue some time ago (last fall or so). Yanks, you are correct, some cars do give boost in first gear with the auto and with the EBC wired correctly, mine being one of them. I have driven cars for over 20 years and hotrodded more than I can count, and even though I don't have a boost gauge, the stop watch does not lie when it comes to showing performance differences. The only explanation that I have come up with to make both me and Flip right is that there are differences in the electronics between say a 2002 Solara Convertible and a 1999 or 2000 Solara Coupe.

And I also agree that the supercharger is a total waste if you don't have boost in first.

However, I disagree with Yanks when he says that the supercharger doesn't kick in until higher RPMs. The boost comes on at all engine speeds. For example, if I do a torque convertor stall test, I get about 2300 RPM with the S/C off and about 2800 RPM with it on.

Cheers guys.

Yeah I remember that "discussion"

Another possibility is that they revised the EBC on the supercharger itself. I am not sure when you got your SC but mine is from this december. Maybe the first SCs that shipped had boost disabled for 1st. I have a 2001 coupe so who knows

And I also agree that the supercharger is a total waste if you don't have boost in first.

What I really meant is that you don't feel it until about 3800rpm.

I'm ordering my boost gauge so we'll see :D :D

I got my S/C in August 2002, so it is a fairly recent one.

You do actually feel the S/C at low RPM, but the existing peaky torque curve of the multi-valve engine remains, so the car still seems soggy when under ~4000 RPM, but not as soggy as without the S/C.

SO GUYS ! 8)

I got my S/C for SLE V6 1999 in May 2003 from Eddie.

My feelings:

1) I can hear the S/C noise from 2500 rpm

2) I REALLY FEEL the boost on the 1'st gear and this feeling is amasing   It continues till 70 mph and then drop from 6500 to 4000. :(

3) Then from 70-120 I don't feel anything and my rpms incraese veryyyyyy slowelyyyy

4) From 120 I begin to feel boost and it continues to the highest speed 8)

5) I have a stock 3'2 pulley for S/C and I satisfy with the power gain.

Soon I plan to have a DINO tune and test it with S-AFC

6) I agree with Yanks about the boost on the 1st gear and as I checked I have my wires connected correctly. The way it is confirms this logic:

"For a manual connection, both the purple and white-blue will need to be grounded, whereas in the automatic connection, those two wires go to the ECU." :drinking:

These guys in Moscow who installed it have a big experience with TRD S/C on LC 100 and LX 470, 4Runners and Sequoia (TRD), Lexus RX 300 and IS 200 ( superchargers from TTE = Toyota Team Europe). And I'm sure they tuned my engine in a proper way :bday:

If OBD can verify there is no boost between the shift,
it implies that the EBC is hooked up correctly.

Thus we took care of proper EBC install.
all we need is a boost gauge to verify.

Its confirmed, I have boost in first. I finally hooked up my boost gauge and I show boost in first starting at around 3500RPM, when it shifts the boost drops down to 0 and then goes back up when second gear engages.

I will post a video of my boost gauge and speedometer to show boost when I get home from vacation.

I also double checked again my EBC and its wired correctly.
