Which is P0330 Knock Sensor? UPDATE

Postby CamryOnBronze » Sun Mar 23, 2008 9:50 am

^ it will still detect knock, just not as early as on the solara.

This is basically how it works- you supercharge your car, it blows a knock sensor. Since the toyota sensors are so sensitive, you could have a very small amount of knock and blow one. Instead of buying an expensive toyota sensor, you replace it with a GM sensor that is a. less expensive and b. less likely to blow because it wont pick up as small of a frequency of knock...

HOWEVER: you need to address the reason you have knock before you install GM sensors. Get ans Apexi SAFC2 and tune the car to a safe AFR through the whole powerband so that you know you wont be knocking, THEN install the GM sensors.

That is the whole reason Dats made that thread- to say that GM sensors DO NOT cure knock, but they are a cheaper alternative. I cant stress enough that you need to tune your car correctly to eliminate the knock before you switch to GM sensors, thats all.

I will say I have not yet experienced this personally, but I have gathered this much information from reading and talking to those who have.
