Good point.
However I drive on freway 98% of the time. (everyday 30 miles on freeway) here in LA on 101 and 405. I have exactly 4 turns on that road![]()
i do ocassionaly go to mammoth, big bear but i do SF and Las Vegas way more.
Bottomline: i need a tire that lasts, is more than decent on dry roads and kinda decent on wet roads. None of the summer tires have a UTQG rating over 340. infact 340 is the extreme, most of them are 200 or 220.
low UTQG = less tread life, though more grip.
i am ready to sacrifice a bit of grip for a great tread life. ContiextremeContact has UTQG of 400. the way i drive, it should atleast last me 55K +
unlike my protenzas which go bald in 35K (they have a UTQG of 160!!!
I've heard good things about the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S for all season. (of course not as good as real summer tires) They also have 400 treadlife rating.
