There are quality systems that add a throaty sound

(trd, car specific greedy, car specific apex-i, etc etc)

but some that are inexpensive are RICE. Like the ones on eBay "Tanabe look alike" for $39... those are made to look like the exhaust. They do not offer the performance, or throaty sound... just a buzzing drone that makes ricers go goo goo ga ga!

I don't think the Greddy Evo sounds ricey. It's pretty quiet at idle and doesn't annoy me at highway cruising speed.

The sound of my exhaust is deeper and a little louder since the supercharger went on, especially the 4-6k RPM range.

If you have a S/C 3" is the way to go. Most aftermarkets are 2 3/8" and its just not big enough for our HP.

just out of curiosity why do people use the term "ricey"? ok anyways....i would say save the money from buying a complete system and have one custom built. I'm gonna get a 5Zigen border and have some custom mandrel bent tubing. eveeryone's got their opinion, but a lot of the aftermarket ones shouldn't be too high pitched, especially if you have the v6..engine.....

In my humble understanding, the term "ricer" evolved from "racer-wannabe." People who are "ricers" typically buy a car like Honda (aka "Hon-duh").

While Honda cars are comparable to Toyotas as passenger cars because of their longevity and reliability, their stock motors are typically terrible(especially in Civics) because of lack of torque. Still, the platform is great for very "cost effective" upgrades...or in other words, all the parts for Hondas are dirt cheap, because they're all mass produced and usually don't provide much in terms of performance gains.

Ricey cars are all about "show" with little to no "go." Ricey cars are also usually obnoxiously-loud little 1.4 liter I-4 engines with flashy lights capable of inducing epileptic shock and body kits drawn in the back-room of "Hot Topic."

Other images surface in my mind at the word "ricer." Though I myself am of Asian decent and eat rice on a daily basis, "ricer" brings up nothing in me but disdain for those annoying four-foot nothing recent immigrants from Asia who show nothing but attitude to make up for their lack of stature.
