upgraded torque converter

Some of the faster drag racing cars are automatic, because as it was said above, the right transmissions can shift faster than a hand and a stick ever could. Instance: Supra (street legal) with auto tranny, under 700 hp, and a 7000-rpm stall convertor ran mid-11s.

I've heard that a torque converter is a great mod but for daily drivers you dont have the luxury of a smooth ride, not sure if thats true but i really wanted one but my cars a daily driver so i backed out of the mod. What do you guys think.

Theoretically its supposed the make the auto s/c solaras as fast or even faster then the manual ones. ill see how it actually is when i get my car back. if anyone is interested i can give u the info.. if ur in so cal

That's really in theory...

Upgrading torque converter is going to make our AT shifts harder, but it's not going to solve the long gear ratio issue with the 4 speed AT.

But one thing you can try after you upgrade your TC is... discount the EBC to boost in 1st gear and in-between gear. Try it at your own risk

The manual have EBC, it's the same EBC just hook up a bit different.

The manual EBC will cut boost when it reach redline.

I have taken out EBC when S/C is installed.
The power is smooth right from the 2k rpm to red-line.

Later, I installed the EBC, the boost start a little later,
so you kind of feeling the sudden power at around 3500 rpm.

i'm pretty sure my EBC is hooked up the manual way, although i have an auto.

i dont think having boost when changing gears is good.

supra having 7k rpm Hi stall!?!?!?! good god...
didnt even know you can have them set that high.

I have an auto, 6PSI pulley and have been running for a year without the EBC. No problems.

That is one of the reasons why people upgrade the TC. :)
