Ok hey guys whats up! I have just bought a 99 solara sle, red with 5 spd, and im wondering where to beging with the mods? Id like to boost my low end torque for sure, and id like to make it sound pretty nice you know? Long run, ill probably run a supercharger, but for now im looking towards intake, exhaust, cpu upgrades, headers that sort of thing. If you guys could, please point me in the right direction for what to do first, what to buy, where to buy etc. Thanx!!!

A supercharger is really the only way to gain significant low end torque(atleast based on the mods you listed.)

Computer chips are useless
Catback exhaust won't do much (2-3WHP) on a stock car
Headers are $1600 with a ypipe and high flow cat, for that price get the supercharger, then the headers
There is no CAI out yet and a short ram air intake is useless.

Best bet is to forget about the engine and do suspension first. Tokico/Eibach is a great combo

If you shop around, you can get a supercharger for $1600-$1800. That is by far your best mod if you want power. Don't waste your time with other engine mods, like Eric said they don't produce any meaningful power increase without the supercharger.

I think Yanks and George said it well. The supercharger IS the way to increase low-end performance. The intake and exhaust could even slightly decrease low-end performance at the expense of mid to high end performance. The increase at mid to high is definitely worth the sacrifice at the low end though. If you have the supercharger, you will notice more of an increase when you add the intake and exhaust. I think:

1) Suspension (springs, struts, wheels, sway bar)
2) Super Charger
3) Intake (CAI if it exists by then)
4) Exhaust (3" JP Performance headers, y-pipe and exhaust)

????? SLE doesnt has 5 speed. you mean SE? Suspension is the very first thing to do, because the factory one is too soft. For the cheap and nice one go with tokico shock with tein (lower) or eibach spring (higher). for best go with JIC magic or tein coil over. and remeber get the TRD rear anti-sway bar and TRD short shifter!
