Spring Clamps

Spring Clamps

Postby Big_Red » Wed Oct 22, 2003 10:47 am

I have been looking into lowering my Solara recently however i want to see the different in drop before i decide weather to buy springs or adjustable coil overs for more drop. So i was wondering what ppl thought about Spring clamps (First of all, no they are not the same thing as a spring compressor, and second i know if installed the ride will suck). So my real question is are Spring clamps dangerous to the suspension? And could i use them to test how low i want the car?

P.S. I did do a search on this before i posted and couldn't find it.

You could use them to test i suppose? But really if you are going to do that, why not just cut the springs??!? :o From what ive seen/felt, if you are looking for it to look good :Tien, Perform well :Ebiach ... the GC coilovers arent so great for our platform.

The point of the clamps is to be able to adjust the height without cutting the springs so the struts will not be damaged.

If thats your point (to be able to adjust), then just get the coilovers... simple as that

I suggest you ask richt1271 about the coilovers... he has them on his ride and is NOT happy

I've decide to put my money into a body kit (since some jackass hit me). However solara nytez the point of the clamps wasn't to adjust the ride hight but to see if the lame 1.6" drop of the lowering springs is enough or if i would want adjustable coil overs for lower ride height. And impactX there is nothing like seeing it for real so i would rule out photo-shop.

photoshop is a hell of a lot better than buyin new springs and having them installed only to realize it looks dumb. with photoshop and by looking at other peoples' cars you can tell EXACTLY what a 1.6" drop will look like.

Well whatever your point is... like I said, I suggest you ask richt1271 about the coilovers... he has them on his ride and is NOT happy

And I think photoshop is a good recommendation as a start
