K&N air filter

Solaraman, it's hard to tell without being there, knowing how it was running and what all was done. It's possible the old filter was very dirty, the ECU had adjusted to a restricted air-flow and now it is getting so much air the mixture is off. Try disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery for 10 mins to reset the ECU. Reconnect it then after running it for 10 mins or so, it should be readjusted to the current setup. It might run a little rough right after you reset the ECU. Just work the gas and keep it running. -JoeB

JoeB, thanks for the tip, I'll definately give it a try and let you know how it works.

After driving all afternoon I noticed that it doesn't die anymore on startup but another weird thing happens now...

when I put the car in park, the RPM goes a little past 2 and then when I cut the ignition it almost wants to continue working.

Maybe the ECU needs resetting. Thanks.
