I got a v6 s/c, where on the s/c do I need to tap for the boost pressure?
Anyone have any detailed pointers or pics? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Good question and one many have struggled with. You can tap the line into the Super Charger on the top of it under the strut bar. There is a little brass fitting that is removed with a hex wrench. Most fittings will not fit in there though. Some people have gone with a low-profile elbow fitting and put a couple washers under the strut bar to raise it up a little. Others have ground out a place in the strut bar so that it will fit. I've been told by a guy at Earl's Performance that you should really monitor boost at the intake manifold.

Now a funny story. I had my gauge installed at a shop. They used the fat vacuum gauge hose and connected it to the intake manifold. It didn't read correctly. So.... I reconnected it using a brass fitting to the Super Charger and the small nylon hose. Then it read as I would expect. BUT... a little later, I started getting this terrible noise when I put my car in reverse. I thought reverse was gone in my tranny. Just to find out that when I put my car in reverse, the brass fitting was resonating on the strut bar. Only happened in reverse. I felt like such a moron when I was told...

Well, there's a few different ways you can do it. You can always drill and tap your own line right off the manifold, that's the best way, but also the hardest. You'll need to pull the manifold off and drill a hole and tap it to be certain that no shavings get in the engine.

But there's a good chance there's more than enough good vacuum lines coming off the intake manifold you can tap. Usually, a fuel pressure regulator line or the like makes an ideal spot to tap in for a boost gauge. Just make sure it's as close to the manifold as possible, and make REALLY sure it's secured well (zip tied), as it will be under as much pressure as boost you're running.

I really hope people using washers to raise the strut bar know that there are different grade washers.

There are 2 standards for grade.

SAE and Metric.

Click here for a guide: http://euler9.tripod.com/bolt-database/22.html

I believe the bolts for bolting seat brackets, struts are heat-treated and are very strong. When you put in washers that are not up to par... say SAE grade 2 or Metric grade 4.6, those washers become the weakest link of the suspension systems because they can't withstand the stress.

It's just like some people using washers to make a homemade camber kit. Those washers will break because they can't withstand the stress.
