Level-10 Auto tranny valve body group buy

Postby JoeB » Fri Jan 02, 2004 6:59 pm

Well, I got my car back from Level 10 (Great guys!), WOW, what a difference! Obviously I was convinced it would help or I wouldn't have paid all that money to get it done. Even still, I can't describe how happy I was when we took it for a test drive. My car has always been a slug off the line and shifts were slow and sloppy. From a stop, it would barely chirp the 17x7.5" Toyo Proxies. I would have to power brake it to get a tiny squeel. The shifts are much quicker but not hard snaps. I was worried about the drivability with the high stall torque converter but my worries are now gone. Very driveable, very fast, very nice! From a stop, no power braking those proxies are SCREAMIN!

Unfortunately, I can't tell how much is from the fuel system upgrades by Gadget and how much is from the tranny work. I think most from the fuel system & SS FTC1 and the transmission is able to handle it now. I'm having a blast! I'm having it dyno'd again as soon as they'll take me in. I want to have the dyno run at the same place so the setup is identical. -JoeB

If I would have just had the valve bodies recalibrated, they only needed 24hrs (1 day). Because I wanted the high stall torque converter too, it's 72hrs (3 business days). It was difficult to wait since the auto tranny in the Camry/Solara is one of the softest I've ever felt. I was pretty sure it would be a BIG improvement. I was like a kid at Christmas and didn't want to wait. Christmas was great though and when I received the present, it exceeded my expectations!

Their web site doesn't do their business justice. To really get a feel for their business, you have to spend a couple hours at their facility reading all of the published articles on their work that hang on their walls, read the list of major customers, look at their shop and meet the people. 250 miles was a long drive but if I ever need any more work done, I'd go back in a minute. Pat, the owner really seems to enjoy the business and Sam, the sales Manager takes a personal interest in the job. They really seemed to care about each customer. If you're close enough, visit them. If not, call them, you'll be convinced too. Sorry this sounds like a commercial, I'm just very happy and I'm kind of picky so that doesn't always happen. -JoeB

Man 250 miles is a lot closer to NJ than from where I am. I wish there was a company in Ca that did similar work. I really want to get it done but I dont want to put half of my car in the mail.

LOL, I heard that Nick! I think I'd be a little skeptical too. As it turns out, it is very common. The majority of their business is done that way. They do alot of business over seas as well. Only a very small percentage of their business is done locally. What I would do is take it to a trusted mechanic and let them take it off and send it in. Then re-install it when it comes back. -JoeB
