Hey, haven't been to this site in a while but I'm wondering which is better: the Xerd CAI or Danny's CAI? And wha actual gains anyone had on their cars w/ the product. I have a automatic 1mzfe so ppl with similar cars would be more helpful. :D

I can't really say anything about XERD's CAI because they haven't been made available. When Eyal was talking about them, I asked multiple times to see a picture of the install or to understand where the filter or air source would be located and never got an answer.

Danny's extension to the Injen short ram intake is very nice! UPFD did a great job with the production too. Fit, finish and functionality are very nice. I've stated my opinion about performance upgrades a couple times already but basically, it is a function of how much colder the air is coming in along with any air volume changes. Dynos for proof are senseless because they will vary based on the temperature. Unless there is a problem with air-flow in the design. The butt dyno says it's nice! 8) -JoeB

dyno's might not b accurate because of difference in temp.. but hey.. we gotta have some sorta number 2 measure and y not the max hp u can produce??? laters

If you wanted something like that, someone (not me) could do like other CAI manufacturers do, take the before reading with the engine compartment closed and as hot in the dyno bay as possible. Take the reading for the CAI with it as cool as possible. Maybe even ice down the intake manifold or whatever to artificially make the numbers higher.

The real deal is, on a cold day, you probably won't notice much or any difference but on a warm day when the temperatures under the hood can reach over 200 degrees, if you have the air intake now sucking 80-90 degree air, that is a significant difference. I think the number is 1hp for every 10 degrees. So just because 1 person got a certain gain, doesn't mean that someone else will get the same. You just have to understand the mechanical principle and realize why it is a good thing. If you don't believe that colder air will increase performance, maybe buy something else like a chip that has dyno charts to go with it (sorry, just kidding  ). -JoeB

he he, How about Mat called me saying, "Your CAI extention is ready" I told him. "Dude, I already called you and ordered one and installed it" He was looking at the original list that Danny gave him but I jumped the gun and ordered one when we got notice that they were ready. That was funny. He said he would keep me in the loop of new things they are making for the Solara.

Rapsux2000, How is the power increase? GREAT!!!
Now I got the 4cyl and had to custom fit it, got a 6month old dirty filter that is also the wrong size. With all that I still noticed more power. I can't wait till I get this new K&N cone filter with an inverted top. After I installed my Greddy Cat-Back system the sound from the intake decreased dramaticaly as I'm assuming its from less backpressure due to the new cat-back.

Nuf said. - It works well. - I can imagine how it works for the 1mz especialy with a s/c!
