CE Light with Danny's CAI? P0401

Anyone have this happen? Anyone already had a CE light and have read the code since installing the CAI?

I know I'm going into this with that risk as I custom fit it so...

Well my dealer is saying that mine is causing the CE light to come back on due to the fact that since there is not enough backpreasure to initiate the EGR @ start up as was when the stock air box was in place. They are trying to figure out a workaround but will probably have to place the filter back on the top, delete the code and try it again. If that works then I'm saved! I need to get emitions every year so if thats what I got to do then so be it.

He did say that the car runs fine and it does not affect the performance of the car but it just throws back the CE light. I'm gona have to get me a scanner for myself and check it before I do emitions testing.

As far as the code is conserned. I'll get it from him and post it back on this thread later. Waiting for his call to see if the workaround worked.

I know for my situation it was probably going to do that since the diameter of the extention is larger than the injen intake. 2.25 > 2.75

Cross your fingers. :)

I have similar problem... well sort of. I used to have a short ram intake and everything was fine... but when I installed the supercharger, the CE light will always come up and saying lean at idle. Some people have suggested that there must be a vacuum leak somewhere. When I checked and the people that did the install checked, there's no apparent leaking or mis-routing of any of the hoses...

so I took off the intake and threw the stock airbox with TRD filter back in and everything went away. so they think the intake is sucking in too much air? or doing something to trigger the CEL to read lean at idle...

anyway... good luck on it. I am kind of tempted to put the intake in again, maybe this time a cold air :P

Yes I heard many good things about having it with the supercharger. Go for it! Yeah it's not alowing the EGR valve to open up when it is supposed to. Thats what triggers the CE light.

thanks for your reply.

UPDATE: They said that converting back to Short Ram will not do the trick. They are needing to keep the until tuesday and will be calling Toyota and TRD to try and get a fix for the issue. I'm surprised they did not just say, "Put your stock air box back on".

Here is the code they pulled: P0401

yeah that's what I got from my installer. He told me to put the stock air box back in after I install the s/c... which wouldn't make such loud whistling noise =)
