Wiring Switches Help please!

Wiring Switches Help please!

Postby FLASH » Thu Jun 10, 2004 5:21 pm

I mounted a switch for a neon in front of my shift knob on that little felt area. I know the switch works because when i connect the wires to the approriate terminals on the battery, the switch lights up. But when I try to wire it to my Cigarette lighter or Aux outlet...nothing. I have the negative going to a screw holding the shifter in place, and the positive wrapping around the plug on the cigarette lighter, and then connecting it. This should work, but it wont. Any ideas why, or what to do!? I also tried wiring it to a fuse, but nothing. i'm lost here guys...

Yeah first try finding a more solid ground. You wrapped the positive lead around the cigarette lighter? Insead of that, find a fuse or a wire thats hot to deliver power to your neons. I used my seat heater circuit (found behind the change tray). See how I wired my neon switch here.
