Anyone interested in a Quaife LSD for your manual transaxles
I'm a member of the Mr2 board and I'm attempting to gauge interest in possibly having Quaife tool up another batch of LSD for our trannies. Quaife is currently out of differentials for our trannies and will not tool up another batch without an order fo 20-30 or more.
As some of you may know, the camry/solara v6 manual tranny, celica turbo's and mr2 turbo's all share very similar trannies and use the same LSD's. Below is a post I made on the mr2 board to gauge interest in this LSD. If anyone is interested in this please send me an email with your name, number and email address so I can begin gathering a list of potential buyers.

As one of the very few 93 Turbo's that did not come with an OEM LSD I've been shopping for a Quaife LSD for about two years and successfully found three and all have been sold out from under me before I could send the money, one in as little as an hour away from paypal'ing. geesh!! So I'm looking into gauging the interest of a quaife lsd group buy.
Anyway, quaife is currently out of stock and will not make any more unless they receive a batch order for about 20-25 I believe.
For those who do not know, unlike the OEM viscous, or the KAAZ, TRD, and CUSCO which uses maintenance prone clutch packs, the quaife lsd is of a helical design. The quaife lsd is much more effective than the OEM viscous and doesn't need maintenance that the clutch types require. (in defense of the clutch type lsd's if the car is not raced or driven hard on a regular basis, they can last up to and beyond 60,000 + miles, although they do exhibit chatter around slow corners i.e. parking lots) Furthermore, the quaife comes with a lifetime warranty, even if you race it!!!! Check out the Quaife website for more details.
From the quaife website:
"The Quaife is great for street driving or racing. Racers don't have to put up with locking mechanisms or spools that created unwanted understeer under power, or in the case of front-drive cars, even tear the steering wheel out of their hands when cornering. Because it behaves like an open differential during ordinary driving, street drivers will have trouble telling it's there until pushing the car's limits.
The Quaife has been proven in everything from SCCA Rally to Formula 1. It provides autocrossers with such an advantage, it has become "required" equipment for a winning effort."

The US price is approximately ~$1200 for each unit, but the UK price is listed as 560 pounds, which is less than $1K via the exchange rate so I'm talking to both distributors to see if there is really a discrepancy in price.
The same model LSD from quaife will fit the V6 Solara and Camry as well as the Toyota - Celica All-Trac st165/st185 front. So I'll post on their boards as well to see how much interest I can stir up.
I doubt anyone would trust me with a $25000 group buy, so I'm going to shop around to some of the reputable mr2 vendors to see if any of them will perhaps run the group buy, if the necessary interest is generated. Maybe cj-motorsports, KO Motorsports, Vick Brothers, or someone else.
So.....if your interested in a quaife LSD, post away. I'll try an answer as many questions as possible, but I am no expert in this. What I do know is that I have driven and rode shotgun in enough cars at with and without an LSD at various SCCA autocrosses, as well as attended the Panoz racing school at road atlanta and have seen and felt how much an LSD can help.
I'll update this thread as I obtain more pricing and batch information from Quaife and Quaife UK.
