What air filter cleaner/charger do you use?

Postby thealkimo » Tue Mar 30, 2004 1:25 pm

I decided to get the K&N filter cleaner to use on my Injen filter. I read over the instructions but the filter in the instructions is for a ring filter...so is there a different or better way to clean a cone filter using the cleaning spray and filter oil? Thanks!

Any recomendations on where I can get one like that?

Autozone will order it for you if they dont have one in stock (which they usually dont). The K&N part number for the filter I have is RX-4950.

NOTE: This K&N filter will probably only fit the Injen intake for the 4 cyl. If you have the V6 measure the circumference of your intake piping and Autozone will find the right size for you.

I found it! The size I needed was part# RR-3003 Here is a pic of what I was looking for...Image
The inside diameter is 3" and that is a perfect fit for the 2.75" CAI extention.

I'm just gona use this old dirty Injen filter as a back-up when It rains. I'll disconect the CAI extention and use it as a short ram again. I also got the K&N cleaning kit and will use it to clean the Injen and the new filter going forth. Thanks for everyones feedback.

I could not find the one you got onefiend. You seem to have the better one acording to K&N. Image

Hey good job finding the filter you wanted Solarat, how much did yours cost? Yeah, the pic above is the one I have, I dont remember how much it cost got it awhile back, but it was around $50. I too started using the Injen filter only as a back up now, I am more satisfied with the K&N filter, I do use the Injen if the K&N needs cleaning, which isnt often.

Thanks! $40.00 Is what I paid. The Injen gets dirty fast for some reason. I have not installed it yet and I'm thinking of going to this other Autozone in my area cause they might have the one you got in stock. They can order it worse case but you know me always wanting things right away. Now that I looked up the difference It would be worth it. The inverted one I got is good an all but yours has more filter area and it actually "redirects airflow inside the filter to pull in more air through the side pleats for even greater performance efficiency." So you know I got to have the best stuff.

B_Master_Flash wrote:I have a Weapon R Dragon Intake w/ a foam filter and I wouldn't recommend it. Its extremely (to a fault) free flow and I can't find cleaning stuff for it any where and its a pain to change the filter element. Speaking of that does anyone know where I can find the oil for the foam filter? Can I use the oil for the K&N filter? I would guess not but I just can't find oil anywhere and I'm getting nervous driving this long w/ an un oiled foam filter.

Maybe you can try the comptech filter cleaner...comptech has foam air filters too.

I just bought one of those, should be here by next Friday (backordered). I like the idea of having the top open. I currently still have the Injen filter on, but I've wanted to change to K&N. This is part #RX-4870. The dimensions are 2.75", 6" base, 5" top, 6.5 H, 2" flange. Just about the same size as the K&N.
